Alan Frey

Dr. Frey is an experienced scientific investigator with over 30 years of research tenure at New York University. Throughout his career, Dr. Frey has been focused on immuno-oncology, understanding how tumors block the function of T cells. Dr. Frey’s research contributions, including over 90 peer-reviewed articles, have been significant in areas such as cytochrome P450 enzymes, tumor rejection antigens, and T cell immune responses in cancer.

His work aims to develop drugs to restore normal function in cells attacked by T cells, particularly in pancreatic beta cells. Dr. Frey has received several honors and awards throughout his career, including the Dean’s Recognition Citation for Excellence in Medical Education from NYUSM and the Irma T. Hirschl-Monique Weill Caulier Career Development Award.

He has also mentored many students and served on various committees and grant review panels. Dr. Frey earned a PhD in cell biology from NYU and completed postdoctoral training in molecular biology at Princeton.
