Mark Jay Shlomchik

Dr. Shlomchik's journey in academia and medicine spans prestigious institutions: a BA in biology from Harvard College, an MD from the Hospital University of Pennsylvania with a residency in pathology and laboratory medicine, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the Fox Chase Cancer Center. He held positions at Yale University as an Associate Professor of laboratory medicine and immunobiology and later became the Professor and Chair of the Department of Immunology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Now a UPMC Endowed Distinguished Professor, he has dedicated over 30 years to mentoring over 50 students and fellows, alongside active involvement in professional societies.

 

With a rich background in B cell immune response and autoimmune activation, Dr. Shlomchik's expertise extends to translational pharmaceutical development. He co-founded BlueSphere Bio and serves as both founder and CSO, accumulating over 180 peer-reviewed publications. His role on Radyus' board of directors brings invaluable senior-level innovative expertise, aiming to enhance translational therapeutic interventions targeting B cell immune responses. Dr. Shlomchik's mission as a physician-scientist and entrepreneur is evident in his commitment to bridging laboratory research with clinical products, offering mentorship to trainees in the field.
